This image was created for the production company Criminal to be used in their PR materials.
The fictional location was created using over 40 interior photographs taken in the former Oakland Main Train Station. The station was photographed from every angle so the most dynamic and detailed room could be composited together. I created a sketch of the scene in advance and used it as an underpainting while I was on location. This live workflow allowed me to immediately stitch each photograph into the scene which ensured everything needed was captured.
Grip equipment and the company founders were shot against a backdrop in the same location to match the lighting. These items were composited into the scene later along with fog and blowing draperies. CGI was used to create a flock of black birds.
